Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientists, software & hardware engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

KLA is ramping its fastest-growing new research & development center in Ann Arbor, MI, and we're hiring the best talent for it.  In Ann Arbor we're developing product equipment, test centers, and the software and AI algorithms that power the cutting-edge capabilities KLA is recognized for. 

Central Engineering is KLA's largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company, and across all global regions. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Talent includes over 1,000 engineers across global centers in Israel, China, India, and the US. Each CoE contributes not just talent and deliverables per discipline toward product programs, but also subject matter expertise, best practices, roadmaps, specialized facilities, apparatus, models, and analytics. These differentiate KLA not only in WHAT we do, but also in HOW we do it.

Responsibilities

Our product includes machine control software that interface with optics, sensors, robots, electronics, stage; user interface software with desktop and web technology; Image processing, machine learning algorithms; and infrastructure for high-performance computing. Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing the signal and noise characteristics of current and emerging IC yield limiting defects, formulating image processing and machine learning algorithmic solutions, and validating them via simulation and prototyping.
  • Working with product system engineering team to define the algorithm performance specification and use it to guide the algorithm design and implementation.
  • Act as the algorithm representative during system level hardware/software integration.
  • Provide algorithm technical support during product demo and beta testing, work with domain experts from other functional teams on special customer engagement projects.
  • Participate in software quality assurance activities required by the software development process.

 

Qualifications

  • Very strong problem analysis and solving skills
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new and emerging technologies
  • Solid theoretical background in signal/image processing and computer vision
  • Research and/or software development experience on Unix/Linux platform
  • Proficient in C/C++, solid MATLAB or Python programming skills
  • Background in pattern recognition, computational geometry is highly desired
  • Experience in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and large data structure is preferred
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • A self-motivated individual who takes the initiative in a constantly-changing working environment

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor degree with 1 year experience or Master's degree in fields related directly to data science and algorithms.
